Patentees are required by law to file information pertaining to the sale of their drug products in Canada to ensure that the prices are not excessive. Approximately 1,300 drug products are currently under the jurisdiction of the PMPRB.
The PMPRB reports on the sales and price trends of patented drug products as well as pharmaceutical research and development spending in Canada.
According to a new NPDUIS report, prices for generic drugs are dropping in Canada, but are still higher than in other countries.
